About this Blog

Welcome…

This blog is all about graphic design… a discussion on the importance, the processes, experiences, and observations. It is for professional graphic designers, students and educators in the visual communication and design field, advertisers, and colleagues. So, let me pose the question: What is graphic design? Simply put, it is a form of visual communication; it is used to convey information or a message to an audience; it is a visual representation of an idea through the organization of various visual elements.

Graphic design is about solving communication problems. A design solution can be
so effective that it influences behavior. Powerful graphic design gives resonance to communication and heightens the “expressive power of the page.” It transcends and intensifies the message, and enriches the audiences’ experience…creating an emotional connection and achieving a singular presence.

This is the graphic design I aim to talk about: it is about a product to be proud of versus something homogeneous and mundane; it is about standing out from the clutter, achieving collectable status, and striving for something new; it is about the potency of design, reaching out to audiences, and achieving your goals.

I am a professional freelance graphic designer and illustrator, and a college instructor in the visual communications & design field. To learn more about me, I invite you to visit my websites: www.Lodestar-Visions.com and www.Paper-Sculpture.com.

Let the discussions begin. Kristen E. Stuart
